Apartments in the Heart of the Smithfield Historic District

Apartments numbering 348, 350, 352, and 354 make up our ongoing historical building renovation in downtown Smithfield, VA.

Presently, “We have completed the structural work and are now entering the rough-in of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems then followed by interior finishes. We are excited about giving this old building new life.” -- President and Owner Ed Bowman.

Years of foundation settlement at the rear of the building had caused unlevel floors and cracked walls from the differential settlement. Our skilled vendor, along with our team, drilled helical piles 30-70 feet into the ground in order to stabilize and lift the building two-three inches, repositioning the foundation and significantly improving the settlement.

The building consists of four apartments, two upstairs and two on the first floor, each with a bathroom, a kitchen area, two bedrooms, a living room, and breakfast room. The apartment is right in the heart of historic Smithfield and within a short walking distance to the waterfront, restaurants, bakeries, and local shops.

By being the owner and contractor on this project utilizing Historical Tax Credits, a project like this fits into both the Development and Historical divisions of our work. Click here to see our five project areas, along with photos of each: https://www.webowman.com/projects !
