The Associated General Contractors of Virginia, otherwise known as AGCVA, has played a tremendous role in W.E.Bowman Construction Inc. They have stated that, “The Associated General Contractors of Virginia will improve the state of the construction industry in Virginia by harnessing the collective power of its members to implement changes in the industry and its operating environment.” With this being said, we are proud to be a part of this organization.
In January of 2017, the AGCVA, swore in a new Chairman of the Board. This new chairman was Ed Bowman, the President of our company. Ed served in this position faithfully for a year, ending in January of 2018.
In addition, the AGCVA organization provides our company with many resources and helpful suggestions. Currently, they have served us by educating our company on how to handle the Covid-19 pandemic. In fact, W.E.Bowman mentions that, “They are a resource for helping us navigate these uncertain times.” For example, our company has now held “Safety Standowns” for our team members, per recommendation of the AGCVA.
Not only does this organization help navigate uncertain waters, but also they are an advocate for contractors to the government. The AGCVA organization wrote to the governor of Virginia, asking him to treat construction as an essential service during the Coronavirus pandemic. The writers mentioned, “it is more important to the long-term health of Virginia’ economy to keep the construction industry intact.” We appreciate their advocacy for companies like ours.
